2010 FCA Home Team Banquet featured former Minnesota Viking Joe Senser!

The 9th annual ND FCA Home Team Banquet was held on Monday, March 29, 2010 and featured Joe Senser former tight end for the Minnesota Vikings!  Joe was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 1979, and was named an All-Pro Tight End during the 1980-81 season.  Joe's testimony was amazing and mixed stories of his time in the NFL and how his faith was discovered there while a Minnesota Viking under current FCA President Les Steckel, who was Joe's first coach with the Vikings.  Joe spent time in Bismarck before the banquet and talked to ESPN radio, KFYR TV, KXMB TV and the Bismarck Tribune.  

He is pictured above serving food for the banquet so he was able to speak to all the 250+ guests.  His message included reflections on Palm Sunday, and how Jesus' disciples denied HIM; He discussed the Lord's Prayer and challenged us to believe it, or get off the boat!  He also mentioned that when he was first drafted by the Vikings he had God 'on the shelf' and his faith was not strong or active.  By the time he left the Vikings he was a strong believer and has grown his faith ever since.  ND FCA wants to thank Joe for making the trip to Bismarck and making this 9th annual event one to remember. 
 

2010 FCA Youth Basketball Camp at Cheney Middle School! 59 campers had a great experience.

FCA's 2nd annual Youth Basketball Camp was held at Cheney Middle School in West Fargo and 59 campers and many excellent volunteer coaches (pictured above) set the stage for a summer camp to remember!  Steve Hallstrom of Fargo led the team of coaches that provided a setting of basketball skills, personal growth and a spiritual experience that will last a life time.  Thank you Steve!   Special thanks to the Curt Jones, AD, and Coach Barb Metcalf of West Fargo High School for their hospitality!

The ND FCA Golf Classic team from the Hawktree tournament this past June, went onto the FCA National Scramble at the TPC Sawgrass Golf Course in Florida in November 21-23rd and took FIRST PLACE in the net division!!   The team is made up of Paul Balliet, Dennis Beck, Troy Jochim and Bruce Basaraba.  See them pictured above at the famous hole #17 at Sawgrass!   This team won the event in a sudden death playoff on hole #17 when Paul Balliet placed his tee shot within 13 feet of the cup, and Troy Jockim drained the put for the win!!  Congratuations!! 

Pictured below is the winning team from the Fargo FCA Golf Classic played at the Fargo Country Club in July.  This team went on to compete in the national FCA Golf Scramble and are pictured here at Sawgrass.  From left to right is Rick Morris, Rob Johnson, Kent Anderson and Scott Oien.  Congratulations guys and thank you for representing ND at Sawgrass!!

Next year's qualifying tournament at Hawktree is scheduled for Tuesday, June 29th.  Fargo's qualifying tournament will be at the Fargo Country Club and is scheduled for Monday July 26th. 
Both tournament winners are eligible to participate at the FCA national scramble.

First annual ND FCA Pheasant Hunt in Western ND! Thirteen hunters and supporters of FCA had a great day! A special thanks to Jordan and Bob Pope for their help in arranging this hunt!

ND FCA held its annual Fall Festival in Fargo and teamed up with FCA Hockey Ministries to provide free hockey skills clinics to youth hockey players at the Urban Plains Center in Fargo.  44 hockey players participated in the skills clinics that were ran by Rick Randazzo, Todd Steinweg and Jeremy Simpkins all with FCA Hockey Ministries.  Rick is the director of FCA Hockey Ministries and is a former Naval Academy head hockey coach and played college hockey at West Point. A special thanks to the Fargo Force and their hospitality in providing the ice time and discounted tickets to the Friday night Force game to the clinic participants and volunteers.  If you would like to know more about FCA Hockey Ministries, check out their web site at www.fcahockey.org   

I thought the camp was outstanding with the emphasis on working those individual skills and breaking down into the small groups.  the coaching staff was great and they seemed to get quite an effort out of each individual player as well as the entire group.  The message was clear and not overwhelming to the players which is great.  My daughter got a lot of instruction and it will indeed help her on the ice and off as well. thanks.  Chad M.

5th Annual Wrestling Camp was held on Monday July 19th thru Wednesday the 21st!  

ND FCA held its 5th annual summer Boy's Wrestling Camp at Crystal Springs Baptist Camp near Tappen, ND. ( approx. 60 east of Bismarck on I-94 )  Dates were Monday, July 19th through Wednesday, July 21st.  Ages for wrestling campers were those going into Grades 6-12.  37 campers and over 10 coaches made the camp super. 

Cost :  $160 if registered by 5-1-10; $175 after 5-1-10

Camp included: meals, lodging, t shirt, bible, great coaching, (many of North Dakota's best high school coaches and guest college coaches), team building, ropes course, wall climbing, water front activities and much more!
